The Sounders had a day to remember at the Banc of California Stadium, starting with a 4-1 loss to the black and gold side.
Both teams rocked their new ocean campaign jerseys by Parley and Adidas to be a part of the solution to the ocean threats.
As the game kicked off, it was evident that the Sounders where having a tough time keeping possession or containing the Los Angeles Football Club players. It was unclear if it was the field or the team not having a good game. Coach Bob was quick to put that to perspective.
“It’s not Seattle’s day and I know that…”
11 minutes into the game, Mark-Anthony Kaye sent a long pass to Carlos Vela who did not hesitate to fire a cannon far right making it 1-0 in favor of the home team.
27 minutes later, Nicolas Lodeiro’s pass was intercepted by Mark-Anthony whose first touch was to Edward Atuesta. Having a lot of space, Atuesta dribbled to the 18-box beating the first defender and firing a far-right crack punishing them with a second goal.
Christian Ramirez sent a long pass finding Carlos Vela in a 1v1 vs the goalie. This was a moment for Seattle Sounders goalie Stefan Frei who saved the day by denying Vela another goal to seal the end of extra time in the first half.
Second half started with a lot of hopes for Seattle Sounders.
5 minutes into the second half, Victor Rodriguez set up a clear path for Harry Shipp who fired a cannon at the same spot Vela scored against them. The visiting fans seemed relieved to see the Sounders cut the deficit in half.
The3252’s didn’t want to have it; they raised their chants and energy vibrating throughout the Banc of California Stadium. The loud drums, the chants and
4 minutes after Seattle’s goal, it was sprinkling beer thanks to Vela taking on the goalie and chipping the defender to add the 3rd goal for Los Angles Football Club and sending the crowd wild! Atuesta earned his assist of that goal by setting Vela with a through pass between two defenders into the 18-box.
Atuesta tried to earn another assist by setting up Diego Rossi with a one two touch inside the 18-box but Diego Rossi’s shot was saved by Frei.
Within a minute of the save, LAFC possessed the ball and found their way to the 18-box where Christian Ramirez and Mark-Anthony Kaye worked some magic to seal the win for LAFC.
Ramirez back heel pass to Mark-Anthony and opening for the pass back made the goal of the day.
