REBELS DEFEAT HIGHLAND AND COULD CLINCH CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

The rebels (417th US, 149th CA, 66th Southern Section), continue with their winning ways against their conference rivals, Highland HS. Their winning streak stands at six consecutive wins. The rebels need one more victory to clinch the conference championship.

The rebels were able to take control of the tempo and possession for most of the game. by keeping the possession of the ball, they were able to control the midfield and thus opening up their lethal attacking duo with various scoring opportunities.

The Rebels went on to win the game with the score of 5-0 with Jason Utama scoring a goal and a couple braces by their lethal attacking duo: Victor Jimenez and Kaylon Williams. Victor Jimenez’s physical presence in the box allows for other teammates to have an opportunity to take shots on target. Kaylon’s speed and dribbling capabilities were too much for the bulldogs.

The assists were as follows: Donavan Iwuagwu

, Victor Jimenez, Damien Montoya, Romberto Navarro and Kaylon Williams.

The rebels defense kept the bulldogs at bay and were able to keep a clean sheet for their third game of the season.

This Friday the rebels will have a rematch of the season, when they will face Pete Knight HS, the only team in the conference that were able to defeat them with a score of 3-2.

Coach Rob was very happy with the team‘s performance and stated the following, “extremely proud of the boys.. they stepped up in a big time game. We were very clinical in our finishing and our decision making in the attacking 3rd. The boys earned this one.. highland did have a few opportunities but I was very happy with the communication and the shape of our defense and saves from our goal keepers. We need to get better tomorrow and keep working.”
