The LA Galaxy’s season is already showing signs of resilience.
In front of a sellout crowd at Dignity Health Sports Park, the Galaxy opened their MLS home campaign with a hard-fought 1–1 draw against New York City FC — highlighted by a dream debut moment from new forward João Klauss.
It took just 85 seconds for Klauss to make his mark. After a sharp buildup and a precise assist from Marco Reus, the Brazilian striker fired home to give LA an early lead and ignite the home crowd.
“It was a great assist from Marco,” Klauss said postgame. “To score my first goal in front of the fans in my first game… it was magic. Hope it’s the first of many.”

Despite NYCFC controlling possession for stretches, the Galaxy remained compact and organized. The match shifted in the second half when LA were reduced to ten men, eventually conceding an equalizer from the penalty spot.
Still, the Galaxy held firm to secure a point — something Klauss believes reflects a stronger mentality within the group.
“The team showed great mentality,” he said. “We will have games like that and we have to get something out of them. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a different season.”

Focus Turns to Concacaf Champions Cup
There is little time to rest.
The Galaxy return to Dignity Health Sports Park tonight for a decisive Concacaf Champions Cup second-leg clash against Sporting San Miguelito. The first leg ended 1–1, giving LA a slight edge heading into the return match.
With Klauss, Joseph Paintsil, and Marco Reus already linking up early in the season, the Galaxy will look to turn their strong mentality into a statement result at home.
The season is just beginning — but the tone is already being set
