LAFC providing Fresh Food for the Angelenos in need

Due to recent closure of some farmers markets, LAFC has teamed up with Sustainable Economics Enterprises of Los Angeles (SEE-LA), LA County District 2 Supervisor Mark-Ridley Thomas, Unite Local 11, Banc of California Stadium, Expo Park, Everpark and Cedars-Sinai (local organizations) to donate 1,100 boxes of fresh produce to Angelenos in need.

This box will include a week’s worth of fresh seasonal produce including a dozen eggs, 5-7 varieties of vegetables, 10 pounds of oranges, plenty of berries, and information about local public nutrition benefit and incentive programs. The goal is to feed around 1,100 families weekly, every Wednesday, for the next four weeks.

The free healthy meal giveaway is scheduled for today ( Wednesday, April 15) at 10am to 2pm.

LAFC, Banc of California Stadium and Exposition Park are supporting the effort through a donation of the site and equipment. The Club has also facilitated the donation of packaged food, including CLIF Bars, that will be included in the box, as well as personal protective gear for the 50 volunteers that will distribute the boxes.

Unite Here Local 11 members, many of whom have been laid off or had their hours reduced due to the COVID-19 crisis, along with families living in public housing within South Los Angeles, will receive the boxes. Boxes will be distributed in a drive-thru format on Exposition Park Drive, near the north gate of Banc of California Stadium.
