LAFC went all in last night to secure 3 points pushing them to the playoff safe zone. With two games left to know the fate of the club, the looming question is, will they stay in for the playoffs ?
Brian Rodriguez opened the scoring with an assist from Raheem Edward’s. The Uruguayan received a through ball in the box beating the defender with one touch and megging Frei the Seattle Sounders FC goalie to give LAFC a 1-0 lead at the 21st minute.
Latif Blessing doubled the lead just before halftime by converting Kim Moon-Hwan’s cross in the goalie box. This created another play from Edward’s to Kim Moon-Hwan seconds before end of first half.
The long range shot from Chicho Arango was deflected into goal giving LAFC a 3-0 lead, 13th goal of the season and Chicho Arango earning himself the 7th goal in the last four games! He has definitely stood out without the teams strong holds Carlos Vela who has been out due to hamstring injury and Diego Rossi on a loan transferred to Fenerbahçe SK.
Man of the match, goalie Jamal Blackman made five saves to register his first shutout since joining the club last month. With the much deserved clean-sheet LAFC is now ranked 7th in the Western Conference with 12-12-8 on the season for 44 points.
Before the end of the game, Captain Vela was welcomed back in the game replacing Brian Rodriguez. Vela had a few touches to help maintain the 3-0 win for LAFC.
