More history to rewrite as Vela breaks records

Updated: Oct 8, 2019

LAFC made another historical mark last night, making them the best team in MLS by far.

Not only did Vela make his mark in the historical moment, but also earned himself man of the match and won the race to the Golden Boot with 34 goals.

What a hattrick he pulled, giving Tim Howard a send off he did not wish for. 3-1 must have hurt but on the bright side, he has had a great run in his career. Tim unlike many has had the opportunity to play for the US National team, he played in the EPL just to name but a few high places.

Well, that did not stop Vela and his men from finding spaces in the flanks!

Holding the ball and looking for the perfect moments, LAFC made sure they gave Lalas Abubakar and Tommy Smith a run for the defense.

Vela was the first to wow the crowd at the 28th minute. Assisted with a pass from Latif Blessing, Vela turned between two players and like he already knew where to place it, he fired right past Tim Howard.

Tristan Blackmon did not rest until he finally found Vela with a perfect header. Rewriting the record book in style, Vela with a sweet chilena makes it goal number 2 and moving further in the golden boot lead.

Colorado Rapids were also not to stay down as they tried their best to find Kei Kamara and Diego Rubio. Their first hope came through at minute 40. Diego Rubio found Kamara who cut the deficit by half, ending first half in 2-1.

The second half was played more hopeful for Colorado as they tried to catch up. A win would mean they make the cut for playoffs but that was not in LAFCs plans.

Vela sealed their fate 6 minutes into second half.

LAFC stand tall with a remarkable 72 points. This should definitely be their season!

Next game is in the playoffs against Minnesota United or LA Galaxy.
