LA Galaxy needed to win. This is the match LA Galaxy fans didn’t want to miss, tonight, Wednesday October 28 in an away game and in hope to see LA do anything to keep their playoff leap alive.
Portland was prepared for a difficult match against the five-time champion Galaxy who are in need of points and a win tonight to fuel their playoff hopes.
It's now eight losses in their last eight matches for the Galaxy, who suffered a 2-0 El Trafico defeat. The Galaxy were reduced to 10 men in the 22nd minute when center back Giancarlo Gonzalez was given a straight red card by referee Kevin Stott for denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. After a long process for the LA Galaxy to land the Argentine star Cristian Pavon on the two goals he helped contribute to the team taking Galaxy on its back. They may be in for another round of negotiations to keep him. But either way he delivered this match.
